BIO

Cath was born in Wiltshire in 1976 but has lived in Northamptonshire for the majority of her life. She has always had a love for photography and for the outdoors, but it took a trip to the other side of the world to realise that it was possible to combine both of these passions. While visiting Australia she discovered the images of landscape photographer Peter Lik and returned home feeling exhilarated and inspired with a fresh outlook on her surroundings.
Cath spent the following few years devouring all types of photographic press, learning new skills and putting them into practice to develop her own photographic style.
Despite living in a land locked county, one of Cath’s favourite subjects to photograph is the sea. “I love the varied scenery around coastlines, clarity of light and the feeling of tranquility I get from simply watching the sea”. Water in general is a subject that features a lot in Cath’s photography whether it is a lake, canal or her local reservoir.
Dawn is her favourite time to photograph as the light transforms the landscape into something magical. “The stillness and quiet of dawn combined with the anticipation of witnessing something beautiful is truly inspiring. It makes me feel alive. I’ve spent countless mornings waiting for something spectacular to happen only to return home feeling a bit disappointed. But these disappointments make me appreciate the wonderful moments. After hours, sometimes weeks, waiting for Mother Nature to breathe life into a scene, the moment when all the elements of light, land, composition and colour come together to make a beautiful image, is purely magical and dragging myself out of bed at stupid’o’clock for the umpteenth time was totally worthwhile!! “
Now a professional freelance landscape and nature photographer, Cath is still based in Northamptonshire and supplies stock images to a variety of international photo libraries. She is an accredited National Trust photographer and her images have been published in local and national newspapers and magazines.
Cath's photographs have a beautiful still and quiet quality with an ability to make you feel as though you were there.
