This is the view from Traigh Sgurabhal beach on the North-East coast of Barra looking out towards the Uists. I love the colour and pattern of the foreground rocks and the detail in the sky from the overhead clouds to the distant rain falling on the horizon. Photographs can't tell the whole story though. The weather looks beautiful here, the sun is shining and you can almost feel its warmth on your skin...however this is the outer hebrides... the sea is freezing cold and the wind was howling across the beach whipping up the sand between the rocks. Kitted out in my winter clothes and hat, it was difficult to protect my camera from the flying sand nevermind keep it steady in the wind!
